In fact the e-learning market is booming. It’s expected to be valued at over 300
billion dollars by 2025, yet its qualification award system is insecure
and difficult to verify. So how can employers ensure that people have
actually completed the courses they claim to? ICON is facing these challenges
head-on and they’re doing it with blockchain. ICON’s broof service is
providing employers and recruiters with trusted information about a person’s
employment history, their degree and other skills they may have gained over
the course of their career. Broof does this by enabling recognized institutions
like universities to create and source verified credentials about an individual
after they successfully obtained a new qualification. To create a truly
international decentralized system ICON has chosen to run broof on their public
blockchain. For example, a university could upload the degree certificate, what
was achieved, and when it was awarded ultimately, when this information is used
by employers from all over the world they can trust
it hasn’t been embellished, inflated or illegitimately adjusted. In a world of
recognition and credential evaluation it’s clear, the future is digital and ICON
is leading the way. Proving your identity has become a routine part of everyday
life. Enter passwords to retrieve email, flash
an ID card two security guards at work. and answer security questions when
calling banks for customer service. Imagine a world where
you can prove your identity with just using your smartphone. Enter ICON. They’ve
recently unveiled their blockchain-based visitor management solution VisitMe. By
incorporating ICONLOOP’s decentralized ID protocol, VisitMe eliminates the
hassle involved in visiting an office typically requiring visitors to fill in
the guestbook and show their ID card. As an example users can receive or book
reservations by using the app. After confirming your name and phone number
the service sends you an invitation. The invitation includes a QR code when you
arrive at the destination simply flash your QR code to the scanner at the door
and gain instant access. No wait, no fuss. Since the invitation is blockchain based
it’s impossible to forge, but entering offices is just one potential
applications. Imagine the possible use cases for the sharing economy. Platforms
like Airbnb hotels and more, the possibilities really are endless. Most
importantly VisitMe operates on ICON’s public chain which means that every time
a user’s identity is verified, it uses ICX. ICON has set the tone for 2020 with
their recent road map updates focusing on interchain, governance and scalability.
The blockchain transmission protocol or BTP is a big step in the direction of
interoperability. In 2020 ICON intends to incorporate this technology which
allows the transfer of value and information between various blockchains.
The inclusion of sidechains is a bit of a surprise announcement. The goal is to
make the icon network a true interchain hub. It’s described as a new layer of the
ICON network sidechains will run on iconloops high-performance loopchain
engine which will offer enhanced scalability while keeping the ICON
network focused on interchain and governance. The Korean government will be
using a blockchain based voting system developed by ICONLOOP. It took several months to integrate but now it’s ready to launch. We already know
that the government of Seoul has mandated ICON’s parent company ICONLOOP
as the Seoul Metro standard blockchain platform for all current and future
applications. According to the city of Seoul citizen voting related data has
been stored and managed in a centralized database. In the future the relevant
information will be distributed and stored on the blockchain.
A clear example of how blockchain can be used by governments. Thank you for
